Painted Chair: Before & After

Everyone loves a good before & after transformation.  Painted furniture is very trendy right now.  You can transform a mid-century piece into a glossy, chic bombshell – or transform a more ornate piece into a shabby, vintage dream.

Here is a chair that I recently purchased from VR Furniture in Norfolk.  I love all of the detail, not only in the back of the chair, but also in the turned arm rests and legs.

I simply removed the cushion, sanded the beauty down, added a few coats of high gloss grey [Sherwin Williams Dovetail, to be exact], removed the fabric from the seat, and stapled on the new yellow & white damask pattern.

There are so many things that could have been done with the chair, but I loved the subtle grey with the clean pop of yellow fabric – especially to be worked in with this beautiful display!

Here are some other amazing rooms with painted furniture…

Traditional Living Room by Washington General Contractors ThinkMakeBuild

Traditional Hall by Philadelphia Interior Designers & Decorators Kelly Nelson Designs

Eclectic Bedroom by Other Metro Media and Bloggers Michelle Hinckley

Eclectic Living Room by San Francisco Artists and Artisans Shannon Kaye

Eclectic Living Room by Roswell Interior Designers & Decorators Kristin Drohan Collection and Interior Design

I love the idea of “Designing with what you already have”!  So – are there some furniture pieces you have that could be transformed with a pop of color?  Or could your current sofa and rug be updated with a new painted side table?!  I’d love to help with the transformation!
